I think you will agree that we have many exciting events throughout June that reflect our commitment to providing top-level education for all stakeholders helping to position cancer immunotherapy as one of the four treatment modalities. Along with other SITC leadership, I have been pleased to participate in the Moonshot Initiative to represent our society. The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) as an organization is dedicated to advancing the science and application of cancer immunotherapy and has long been innovators at the forefront of education in this space. In that spirit, we look forward to recognizing Cancer Immunotherapy Month with a number of educational events and activities throughout June culminating with the National Cancer Moonshot Summit on June 29, 2016. Your dedication and hard work in the cancer immunotherapy field has made this all possible. At this exciting time, it is also clear that cancer immunotherapy will be taking center stage in both national and international conversations.
The path forward will depend on continued collaboration among scientists, clinicians, government officials and patient advocates. As Vice President Joe Biden mentioned at a recent stakeholder discussion, we are at an inflection point in oncology with much progress but also considerable expectations.
This is an exciting time in the field as we have seen significant scientific advances in tumor immunology, which has led directly to numerous new drug approvals over the last few years.
